Verena Ly

Verena Ly completed a Research Master’s in Clinical and Health Psychology at Leiden University in 2010. Supported by a personal Mosaic grant from the NWO, she conducted her PhD research at the Donders Institute and the Behavioural Science Institute of the Radboud University (2010-2014). She spent two years as a post-doctoral researcher and coordinator at Karakter Child and Adolescent Psychiatry University Centre and the Radboudumc (2014-2016). In 2016, she started as an Assistant Professor at the Clinical Psychology Unit of Leiden University. Her research focuses on the effects of affective processes and stress on (social) decision making and the role of (perceived) controllability in decision making and resilience. The ultimate aim of her research is to provide an empirical basis for improving treatment for neuropsychiatric disorders by increasing our understanding of psychological and neurobiological mechanisms underlying functional and dysfunctional behaviors.
