Laura van der Aar is a PhD candidate at the Developmental and Educational Psychology Unit of Leiden University’s Institute of Psychology. She studied Developmental Psychology in Leiden and obtained her Research Master’s degree in 2014. Following her Master’s, she worked as a teaching and research associate at the Brain and Development lab. In February 2016 she started her PhD project in collaboration with Jochem Spaans and Renske van der Cruijsen. This longitudinal project, supervised by Prof. Eveline Crone, focuses on the neural signature of self-concept development in adolescence. It is funded by a VICI grant from NWO. In collaboration with Foundation Gap Year (Stichting Breekjaar), Laura will investigate the relation between self-concept development and academic choices and success.
